NOTE: these ranks are tailored to Galeclan only, this is not a definitive guide to warriors ranks.
LEADER:
Self-explanatory. The leader of the clan, chosen by the previous leader and granted nine lives by their ancestors.
DEPUTY:
The second in command. Chosen by the current leader to succeed them and lead in their absence. Must have mentored at least one apprentice.
MEDICINE CAT:
The healer and counsel to the Leader. They speak with their ancestors and interpret signs to better help the leader lead the clan. Always mute.
TELLER:
The history-keeper and story-teller. Keeps the clan's history alive through telling younger generations about the events of their past. Also advises leaders with the knowledge gained from former leaders. Typically only two cats of this rank will exist at a time; the teller and their apprentice.
KITTER:
The "mid-wife/nanny". Responsible for keeping the nursery clean and comfortable, as well as advising expecting mothers and, when the time comes, going with them to their kit-place, or the place out of the clan the queen chooses to have her litter. They assist in all births and sustaining the queens by bringing them food for the moon they are out of the clan. They are trained for half of their apprenticeship by the medicine cat, and the remaining time by their own mentor. Typically only two cats of this rank will exist at a time; the kitter and their apprentice.
HUNTERS:
A small, select group of cats, usually about three adults and their apprentices, who are trained specifically to take down the large prey the clan needs to survive in their harsh territory. Young goats, small birds of prey and their chicks and young deer are just a few examples of the prey they take down. Usually these cats are larger and stronger. It isn't uncommon for one cat to share the hunter and warrior ranks.
FISHERS:
One to two cats trained to catch fish rather than hunt large prey. Also usually double ranks with warriors and are typically smaller with short/sleek fur. Typically only one apprentice will be trained for this rank at a time,
WARRIORS:
The majority of the clan, protectors and fighters. They also hunt the typical prey, run errands for their leader or medicine cat, and train the next generation of cats.
GUARDS:
Two cats and their two apprentices, usually disabled or older cats who sit at the camp's entrance or above the camp at pre-determined watch- points to watch over the clan and their home. Will alert the camp if danger is imminent.
APPRENTICES:
Young cats, six to twelve moons old, who are training for the ranks picked for them. They are also expected to help take care of sick or injured cats, elders, as well as queens and their kits.
QUEENS & KITS:
Pregnant and new mothers and their kits. They reside in the nursery, where the kits grow and learn under the watchful eye of their mothers.
ELDERS:
Retired cats who feel they can no longer do their duties but don't want to go on their Last Hunt. This rank is typically empty, as most cats are too proud to retire peacefully.
LONERS, KITTYPETS & ROGUES:
Loners are non-hostile, non-clan cats without a home. They are driven out of clan territory immediately. Kittypets are generally non-hostile cats who live a soft life being taken care of by twolegs. If found within the clan's territory, they are to be escorted back to the twoleg place. Rogues are hostile, ex-clan, to be driven out or, as a last resort, killed to ensure the safety of the clan.
